The Archaeological Museum of Apollonia is located inside a beautifully restored Byzantine monastery complex in the heart of the ancient city of Apollonia, founded by Greek colonists in the 6th century BC. The museum exhibits artifacts discovered across the archaeological park, reflecting Apollonia’s importance as a major cultural, political and economic center.
Highlights include marble statues, inscriptions, pottery, coins, architectural fragments and monumental sculptures. One of the most impressive exhibits is the monumental façade of a Roman fountain, restored inside the monastery’s courtyard.
The museum offers visitors a deep understanding of Apollonia’s ancient development and its role in Illyrian and Roman history.
